In 2008 Escuela Bilingüe
Internacional completed a five-year strategic plan. Members from various EBI
constituency groups, including faculty and staff, parents and members of the
Board of Trustees contributed to their thoughts, feelings, ideas and dreams to
laying out the future of our community.
The raw data collected during the retreat was synthesized and distilled before being approved by the EBI Board of Trustees last October. This document will serve as a road map for EBI’s development as we grow beyond our initial phase as a vibrant start-up and mature into an established and esteemed educational institution in the Bay Area.
Informed by EBI’s successes as the first Spanish-immersion independent school in the Bay Area, the strategic plan has four main areas of focus:
- Program, Students, Faculty and Accreditation
- Marketing, Admissions, Parents and Development
- Governance and Administration
- Finance and Facilities
Within each of these categories, the strategic plan provides guidance for the future development of the school firmly rooted in our mission: providing an excellent Spanish-English bilingual education based on the highest international academic standards in an environment that thrives on diversity, fosters global citizenship, and develops the character necessary to recognize that cultural uniqueness is the touchstone of our common humanity.
The strategic plan’s focus on ongoing professional development for faculty, refinement of the curriculum and retaining our motivated and diverse family population is vital as the school approaches its goal of becoming an authorized IB World School with a fully implemented Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The plan also provides direction for EBI’s growth through eighth grade by placing an emphasis on strategic recruitment and widespread and concerted marketing for community building, admissions and development purposes.
Ensuring the posterity of a diverse, resourceful and committed Board of Trustees is the plan’s earnest testament to the importance of the EBI mission. Additionally, the addresses the importance of EBI developing as a learning organization with systems consistently being monitored, evaluated and refined for optimal student achievement.
Finally, EBI’s strategic plan seeks to solidify the school’s financial health for the long-term future by enhancing systems to ensure the maximization of resources over time and plan proactively to secure facilities that will support our growth after the next two years.
We thank all those who contributed to this process and invite you to read the full report at the links above.
