Thank you for your interest in Escuela Bilingüe Internacional!
At any time, there may be limited spaces available in certain grades. Please contact the admissions office if you are intersted in enrolling in the 2016-2017 school year.
Our admissions process seeks to create a vibrant community of motivated learners, with a diversity that reflects that of the greater Bay Area. We hope you will stop by and visit us for one of our school tours or information sessions. Please see your next steps below.
The 2017-18 Admissions Process:
Step 1. Fill out the Admissions Inquiry Form
The online Admissions Inquiry Form allows you to specify what you would like to know about our school. We welcome you to be as specific as possible so we can send you the information you are looking for, related news, invitations to our community-wide events and reminders about upcoming application deadlines.
Step 2. Join us for a School Tour and Parent Information Session
School tours allow prospective families to catch a glimpse of a day-in-the-life of EBI. Our tours are lead by the admissions team who can give information about the application process as well as our dedicated Parent Ambassadors with their unique perspective of the EBI community. Our guides will lead you through the classrooms to see inquiry-based learning in action and will culminate in a Q&A with the directors of EBI. The Fall 2016 tour schedule will be available in mid-August.
Step 3. Submit the 2017-2018 Application for Admission
Create a User Account: Select this link to a secure page where you will be prompted to create a username and password. This allows you to sign-in and out of the application to make changes as often as you wish in preparation to submit.
Complete your Child’s Application and Upload Photo: Fill in the required fields of information. You are also welcome to upload a recent photo of your child (This step is optional. However, the photo helps us identify your child throughout the process). Once you’ve finished, select the button to submit the application.
Application Fee: Once your application has been submitted, you will be prompted to pay a non-refundable $75 application fee by credit card. The application will not be processed until this fee has been paid.
Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation that your application and payment has been received. The admissions office will then contact you to schedule your next steps. If you do not receive a confirmation email please contact us at (510) 653-3324, ext. 107.
Step 4. Submit Required Forms and Transcripts
Teacher Recommendation Form
For applicants of kindergarten and grades 1-8, your child’s current teacher needs to complete a confidential teacher recommendation form. EBI uses the East Bay Independent School Association’s standard recommendation form:
- The teacher recommendation form is due by the application deadline; January 20, 2017. The teacher must submit the form directly to EBI
- To expedite this process, please provide the teacher a printed version of the form and a stamped envelope addressed to Escuela Bilingüe Internacional, 410 Alcatraz Ave. Oakland, Ca 94609
- The teacher can also fax the completed form to this number (510) 653-0324
- Form is due on or before January 20, 2017
For applicants of 1st-8th grades, a copy of recent transcripts can be delivered, mailed or faxed to EBI.
- 1st grade applicants - Only the fall report card is required
- 2nd-8th grade applicants - We require all transcripts from the previous academic year and the current fall report card
- Transcripts are due on or before January 20, 2017
Step 5. Assessment, Parent Interview and Student Visit
Once your application is complete, the admissions team will contact you to schedule your child for an assessment and invite you for a parent interview. In addition, applicants for 1st and 2nd grades will spend a morning at EBI and applicants for 3rd-8th grades will spend a full day at EBI.
Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten Assessment: January 28 and February 11, 2017
Our youngest applicants are invited to a morning of exploration with our EBI teachers. They will have the opportunity to participate in group and individual evaluations and teachers will have the opportunity to observe and get to know the children. Parents enjoy refreshments and socialize with EBI staff and parent ambassadors to answer questions in a relaxed environment.
1st-8th Grade Assessment: February 11, 2017
Our older applicants also have the opportunity to meet teachers and complete the appropriate assessment test.
Important Dates and Deadlines:
Final deadline for all applications: Friday, January 20, 2017
Admissions Decisions: Applicants for the 2017-18 School Year will be notified on Friday, March 17, 2017.
